TBFR Blog Announcement: Changes for the New Year

TBFRButton

With the new year I figured changes could smoothly be implemented here at The Book Faery Reviews. The changes may seem like a lot but in truth they are not really. I blog about books because I love books and enjoy sharing ALL kinds with others. This is not a paying career for me and I've decided to go back to work full time so things have to get a bit more streamlined for me to continue. I will continue to post book reviews, giveaways, author guest posts, and other book/writing related topics.

Please see below the following changes I will be implementing:

All Requests from individuals must now be made ONLY by submitting the request form found on the Review Policy page. With the amount of emails I receive on a daily basis and trying to keep track of requests, I will only review requests submitted via the request form. I use google forms so I can track them all in a spreadsheet for easy access.

I will no longer "hunt you down" for your guest post. If it is not received AT LEAST 3 days PRIOR to the scheduled date, it will not get posted. Email me and we'll schedule you for a later date. I've spent many frantic moments the day before without a post that was scheduled trying to get in touch. It's too time consuming. Now that my workload has increased I just don't have time to get things done the night before like I used to.

Authors/Publishers/Book Tour Coordinators MUST provide me with images, author bio, site/follow links and preferred purchase links they'd like on their post (or at least a link to where I can gather that info). I've spent many times spending a lot of time searching for author/book information in multiple locations (especially when an author does not have their own dedicated site). If it's not included, I won't include it. Do NOT tell me to look for it online with no direction (I've been told this before and was a bit irritated since I was doing a favor by helping to promote them and their book).

I will continue to schedule author guest posts, interviews, and/or giveaways but with the amount of review requests I receive, I will no longer promise a review date. I will try my best to get your book read within 1-3 months.

A book or e-book will be REQUIRED for compensation of my time to host an author whether I review it or not.

I will no longer hold giveaway books and ship them to winners. Authors/publishers/book tour coordinators MUST hold copies and ship directly to the winner(s). I'm not paid to host this site so I do not have funds for shipping.

All giveaway participants MUST be an e-mail or RSS subscriber and there will still be multiple ways for additional entries.

Giveaway winner(s) will still be randomly selected using Random.org and I will post the winner within the post comments section and contact the winner(s). **Please note that The Book Faery Reviews does not sell or retain mailing addresses acquired from book giveaways. All emails with mailing addresses are deleted once a giveaway has been completed.**

I will ONLY post identical reviews at Amazon and Goodreads. Since LibraryThing requires a paid membership to post unlimited reviews I will no longer post them there. I also have RSS feeds in multiple social site locations.

If I can not get past the first 4 chapters of a novel, I will put it down and go to my next book. I need something that will grab me from the beginning. I will still post the book details and place to purchase but if I can't get past a book's first 4 chapters I will post it in my review and why. I do realize that not all books are for everyone so it might still be a book someone else might like. I just don't have the time to force myself through a book.

Since everyone else seems to be doing it I have decided that I will begin rating my books on a scale of 1-5. Keep in mind that my reviews are my personal thoughts. Not all readers like or look for the same things. The two main questions I always ask myself after reading a book are 1) could I connect with the characters or story and 2) did the story bring out some sort of emotion from me? Please don't take the rating system too seriously because to be honest, there are very few books I'd read over and over again (in fact I can think of only 1 book at the moment).

  • 5 - Wonderful book, would read over and over
  • 4 - Great book, one to keep in my book collection
  • 3 - Good book but probably won’t reread it
  • 2 - Had a tough time making it through and if I could go back wouldn’t pick it up again
  • 1 - Couldn't get through the first 4-5 chapters of the books.

I will continue to do the following memes: Mailbox Monday, Tuesday Book Tease, and Sunday Salon. I hope you continue to join me on those. Hearing what others receive and are reading is often where I get my next book read.

HERE'S TO A HAPPY, PROSPEROUS AND PRODUCTIVE NEW YEAR!

About The Book Faery

Farrah is from the Raleigh, North Carolina area and married to her high school sweetheart. She's a 30-something mom to 3 crazy yet loveable kids who keep her constantly on her toes. Books can be found in every room in the house and bags as well. Reading is done every moment she gets the chance and a typical afternoon of fun would often find her and the 3 kiddos at a local bookstore or library hunting for the next book. She's currently working towards her goal to one day owning a cafe/bookstore in a historic downtown area where it's all about the reader's experience...community, atmosphere and the love of books.

  1. This is so great! Thanks so much for sharing. I really enjoyed reading this!

  2. I have been looking around tbfreviews.net and actually am impressed by the amazing content here. I work the nightshift at my job and it really gets boring. I have been coming right here for the previous couple nights and reading. I just needed to let you know that I’ve been enjoying what I’ve seen and I look ahead to reading more.

  3. Very good journey and experience!
