A Marquis to Marry (historical romance fiction)…Alexander Mitchell Raceworth, the dashing fourth Marquis of Raceworth, is shocked when the alluring young Duchess of Brookfield accuses him of stealing priceless pearls belonging to her family. Susannah Brookfield is the most beautiful, enchanting woman he has ever met, but despite his attraction, he’s not about to hand over the pearls.
Though suspicion and mistrust drive them apart when the pearls are stolen, Race suggests they pool their resources to recover them. If they do find them, will they finally be able to give in to love, or will the truth of the elusive necklace tear them apart once and for all?
Like Mayflies in a Stream (historical fiction)…Within the walls of ancient Uruk on the bank of the Euphrates, more than fifty thousand people live, love, work, and play, ruled over by King Gilgamesh and protected by their patron goddess, Inanna. But civilization is precarious. At any moment, the armies of other cities could fall upon them, a spring flood could wash away the city, famine could strike, or, the Sumerians believe, the capricious and vengeful gods could punish any or all for the sins of a few. Although the tall, strong, and handsome Gilgamesh epitomizes manly physical perfection, in other ways he falls far short. His subjects fear him, and for good reason, because he has become a bored and restless tyrant. The people cry out to the gods for relief. The elegant, sophisticated priestess Shamhat fears Gilgamesh’s growing wildness will attract the wrath of the gods. She wants to protect Inanna and her temple, as well as free the people of Uruk from Gilgamesh’s oppression, but she fears the repercussions for her and her son if she acts against the out-of-control king. Then word comes to Uruk of a wild man living in the desert, a man the equal of Gilgamesh in size and strength. The king thinks the wild man can relieve his boredom and restlessness and sends someone to bring him back to court. But the person he has chosen, Shamhat, has her own agenda: She believes the wild man can humble the arrogant king. Enkidu the wild man becomes a pawn in the struggle between Gilgamesh and Shamhat, and the future of Uruk hangs in the balance. Like Mayflies in a Stream is a historical novel set 4,700 years ago in Sumer, in what is now southern Iraq.
That’s My Story! (fiction)…A collection of short stories, from the wildly bizarre to the deeply touching.
- Rick’s Lucky Day – A shy, nebbish fellow is unaccustomed to the attention of Lady Luck, comes to Las Vegas for a long weekend and meets her face to face.
- The Landlord – In this peculiar tale of just desserts, we get confirmation that like fate, comeuppance works in mysterious ways.
- Road Rage – This story focuses on humanity’s all too common inability to control its rage and lets us peer through a window into one woman’s wild ride with her own fury.
- Debts – The story of a man who’s past acts catch up to him in a way that he would never have imagined.
- Wreck – On a rainy night, two emergency medical technicians struggle to determine what, exactly, is the right thing to do.
- What’s Under My Bed? – The monster that has lurked under children’s beds throughout the ages makes one more appearance in this warped kid’s tale gone deliciously amok.
- Nightmare on Haifa Street – A US soldier struggles with the horrors of war and tries mightily to hold on to a shred of his humanity.
- Just Coffee – A busy executive is running short on time, patience and her grip as she tries to grab a cup of coffee on her way to the office.
- Cherry Icees – A snapshot of disturbingly fortuitous moment in the lives of a doting father and his little girl.
- Shaken, Not Stirring – A disturbing story that we all wish would never again be told, is told one more horribly unnerving time.
- The Morning Paper – An old woman’s frightening morning encounter is not exactly what it appears to be.
Thunder and Blood (paranormal fiction)…When Sarah Ingram and her sister Christine left Thunder Bay on a chilly November afternoon, they thought that they were going on a weekend getaway, leaving their problems behind. What they didn’t realize was that they would end up in a world that was, in many ways, very different from their own, but in others eerily familiar. Separated almost at once, the two women found themselves struggling to come to terms with the reality of their situation. How could they tell friend from foe? How did this world become so different from the one they knew? Was it possible that there could be more to the vampire stories from their own world than simple myth?
