“If yours truly, Edith Molarnari, tooth fairy second class, hadn’t seen it with my own two peepers, I wouldn’t have believed it myself — Bernice Sparklestein, once the best fairy godmother in the biz, having a bad wand day. A very bad wand day.”
Margie Palatini’s heartwarmingly hilarious story about helping friends and finding your place in life along the way, and Brian Ajhar’s beautifully fun illustrations will have both children and adults giggling out loud.
“Palatini’s books appeal to all ages. Her zany plots with funny characters delivering fast-flowing dialogue will engage younger children, while her extensive wordplay will entertain older kids and adults.
Palitini is the queen of puns and alliteration. Read her books aloud and you’ll have trouble getting through without laughing yourself. She certainly deserves to be listed alongside Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, Beverly Cleary, Jon Scieska, and other favorite funny authors and illustrators.” –Rob Reid, BOOK LINKS, July 2007
THE BOOK FAERY REVIEWS…I enjoyed reading Gone with the Wand just as much to myself as well as to my 3 and 10 year old girls (shhh…she doesn’t want others to know that SHE even enjoyed the girly fairy tale story…lol). Palatini shares with us a story of a Fairy Godmother (Bernice) who discovers that change is needed and she must master something new. We learn never to give up because it takes time, trial and error to sometimes find that special skill. At times it means trying on new costumes and wands like Bernice before we find the right one. There are days I myself feel like I am trying out new wands to discover what I am destined to do. This book was just a reminder to me that one is never too old to learn something new or enjoy a cute happy ending story. Overall Gone with the Wand was a cute book with fun illustrations that displayed the book’s magic while showing references to other famous fairy tales.
