Meet Davey. He’s a kid with a lot of grit and a lot of gumption. There are a number of things that make him special, not the least of which is his admittedly enormous head. Larger than a good-sized pumpkin, his head is tight to fit through a tee shirt and has a tendency to get stuck – most recently in the doorway of the school bus and on the jungle gym in the schoolyard at recess. Yeah, it can be tough having a large head, but just wait and see what Davey Bighead can do with his!
First in the series, Davey Bighead, Dream Big by Peter J. Hayden is written for beginning and intermediate readers. Vivid and bold color illustrations invite the youngest readers to interpret the action and learn as they go. Visit daveybighead.com. - FROM THE BOOK BACK
FROM THE BOOK FAERY REVIEWS…The kids thought Davey Bighead was hilarious. My 8 year old son could read with ease and retell with laughter while my 3 year old daughter giggled as she looked at the “vivid and bold color illustrations” as I read it to her. With each page turned we watched Davey try to do “normal” things with struggle and clapped with joy when he finally found something he was good at no matter how much the other kids made fun of him. Hayden teaches kids that no matter what our circumstance, we need to keep finding ways to work and succeed with what we have. I recommend this book for any elementary school teacher or parent who’s looking for a cute book to share with their children when they want to discuss self-acceptance.
