PhotobucketIt’s Sunday Salon time and once again it’s been awhile since I last posted one or even commented on one. In fact I was just reviewing the last time and it was May 31st!!! I know, shame on me. Of all bloggers, book bloggers should definitely participate with other Sunday Saloners! Sundays are the day to recap and talk about the books over the past week as well share what we’re currently reading now.

This book faery had to take a 2 day book vacation to finally read something from my own personal book collection. What’s that when I get books weekly if not daily? These would be the books that I have picked out personally to read that are not part of a book tour or book giveaway. These are books that I love to read to escape from the everyday world. What was I reading on my mini book vacation? Eloise James’ last book in her Desperate Duchesses series “A Duke of Her Own”. I’m still reading it, enjoying her main man Villiars, and hope to finish it today so I can go back to my scheduled books. I have to admit, I am a sucker when it comes to paranormal and historical romance books.

Who else takes book vacations if they blog books all the time? Do you take a weekend, a week, or even a month a couple times throughout the year to take a book vacation? I’m thinking I might start taking 1 week out of the month to not schedule anything for authors/giveaways so I can go back to reading what’s on my personal bookshelf. I have so many I want to read but honestly don’t have the time anymore since I’ve been occupied with other books.

In addition to reading “A Duke of Her Own” this weekend, I’ve also been reading family/kid inspired healthy cookbooks with my daughter. We’re having to make some changes in our lifestyle and enjoying the time picking out yummy recipes to try out. Tomorrow we plan to pick up the ingredients for the meals we’ve scoped out for the week. I even picked out a book called “Brown Bag Success” by Nissenberg & Pearl to help make lunches more enjoyable this year.

Here are the other cookbooks we’ve either purchased or check out from the library:

  • Smoothies by Barber by Barber, Corpening, & Narlock
  • Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfield
  • Preventions Stop Dieting & Lose Weight
  • The Biggest Loser Family Cookbook
  • The Mom’s Guide to Meal Makeovers by Bissex & Weiss
  • Better Homes and Gardens Kid Favorites Made Healthy

If you’re looking for some book giveaways, The Book Faery Reviews is giving away the following books right now:

Except when I’ve committed to review a book on a certain date or by a certain date, I read whatever strikes my fancy. Probably not the best method, but that’s what I do.
