One modern thing that annoys me is on some television shows, characters from an upcoming show suddenly appear on the bottom of the screen doing stupid things when the main character of the show I am actually watching is at their most serious moment.

Cell phones. Not many people pay attention to their surroundings when they are walking down the street with their phone attached to their ears & when they walk into you, they get angry.
